Purpose of Job:
Lead global supply planning for assigned product lines and markets by converting demand, inventory, capacity, release timing, and commercial priorities into executable supply plans. Set global supply priorities, align decisions with commercial, operations, finance, and market stakeholders, and communicate risks, trade-offs, and market impact through the monthly S&OP process and biweekly control tower cadence.
Key Activities:
- Develop and maintain the global supply plan for assigned product lines, regions, and markets, integrating demand forecasts, inventory targets, production capacity, release assumptions, component availability, transportation constraints, and commercial priorities.
- Determine supply priorities for the global business when demand exceeds available supply or when operational constraints require trade-off decisions. Recommend allocation, sequencing, and recovery actions based on service risk, revenue impact, market criticality, inventory position, shelf-life exposure, and operational feasibility.
- Partner with commercial, operations, finance, procurement, quality, logistics, and regional planning stakeholders to align on supply constraints, business priorities, recovery plans, and financial implications. Facilitate fact-based decisions and ensure agreed actions are translated into planning systems and execution routines.
- Communicate supply risks, shortages, allocation decisions, recovery timelines, and service or revenue impact to impacted markets in a clear and timely manner. Ensure market teams understand assumptions, trade-offs, and actions required to protect customers and minimize business disruption.
- Prepare and provide supply-side inputs to monthly S&OP reviews, including supply outlook, capacity constraints, inventory projections, service risks, obsolescence exposure, recovery plans, key decisions needed, and financial impact where applicable.
- Provide regular inputs to biweekly control tower meetings, highlighting short-term supply risks, customer service impacts, priority decisions, market escalations, action owners, and progress against recovery commitments.
- Maintain visibility to finished goods, WIP, bulk, raw material, and component positions as they relate to assigned supply plans. Identify and drive countermeasures to avoid service issues, excess inventory, short-dated inventory, and obsolescence.
- Support manufacturing and external supply partners with schedule priorities, production sequencing assumptions, and execution changes required to meet global demand while minimizing disruption to operations.
- Maintain, revise, and update department SOPs, planning standards, work instructions, and QCRs as required. Act as functional back-up to fellow planners and support continuous improvement in planning processes, tools, reporting, and data quality.
Qualifications:
- Education: College degree required; degree in Supply Chain, Manufacturing Operations, Logistics, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
- APICS / ASCM certification preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in supply planning, production planning, inventory planning, materials management, or integrated business planning, with demonstrated exposure to global or regional supply networks. Experience in pharmaceutical, medical device, consumer healthcare, lens care, or other regulated manufacturing environments preferred.
- Must have demonstrated experience balancing demand, supply, inventory, customer service, revenue, obsolescence, and operational feasibility in a cross-functional planning environment.
- Must understand MRP-driven planning processes and be able to interpret planning signals across demand, inventory, production, release, procurement, capacity, logistics, and financial data.
- Must have experience using an Advanced Planning System; BlueYonder preferred.
- Must have experience planning in a production-centric ERP environment; ERP-Lx experience a plus.
- Experience supporting monthly S&OP, S&OE, biweekly control tower meetings, demand/supply reviews, market escalations, allocation decisions, and executive-level communication preferred.
- Experience communicating supply risks, recovery timing, service impact, allocation decisions, and financial implications to commercial, operations, finance, regional planning, and market stakeholders.
- Special Skills: Data-driven, decisive, collaborative, and able to influence without direct authority in a global matrix environment. Strong communication, prioritization, scenario analysis, problem solving, continuous improvement mindset, and ability to translate complex supply constraints into clear business impact, options, and actionable recommendations.
