Purpose of Job
The Process Equipment Engineer will provide value added engineering and leadership to a variety of engineering projects for Lens Care Solutions manufacturing to increase performance, reduce cost, improve quality, and address critical obsolescence issues. Position will also support day-to-day uptime needs of process equipment across the manufacturing site.
Key Activities
•Lead improvement projects and support daily operation of process equipment, process, and automation systems including compounding, solution distribution, and filling.
•Lead engineering projects including scope, resource planning, budget activities and project execution timeline. Communicate status of project milestones to key stakeholders.
•Diagnose complex manufacturing technical issues and develop technical solutions to improve process performance, quality, and cost. Engage cross-disciplined resources to support implementation of improvements aligned with site priorities.
•Use operational data and performance metrics to analyze critical parameters necessary to identify and drive Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and reliability improvements.
•Support development of validation strategies, write and execute validation protocols, and complete associated validation reports. Support process and equipment IQ/OQ/PQ/PV validations.
•Identify innovative technical and process solutions that drive the desired performance in cost, quality, compliance, customer service and revenue.
•Interface with internal customers and external suppliers as required.
•Provide ongoing technical support including training and the creation of required documentation for new manufacturing equipment and processes.
•Provide technical and process support to operations as a Subject Matter Expert to troubleshoot and resolve downtown situations in a timely manner
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering with 1-2 years of relevant industrial experience. Master’s degree preferred.
Required Experience / Skills:
a. Proven experience in manufacturing processes and technology improvements in a GMP environment.
b. Strong technical leadership capabilities with a proven ability to develop clear project objectives and work well in multi-disciplinary teams to solve complex problems. Proven track record of delivering to objectives.
c. Proven experience manufacturing processes.
d. Proven ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced, multitasking matrix-reporting environment and effective at working across organizational boundaries.
e. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
f. Strong problem solving, conflict resolution, teamwork and negotiation skills, with proven ability to influence without authority.
g. Good troubleshooting and analytical skills including practical use of DFSS tools.
h. Proficient with the Microsoft office suite of tools including Microsoft Project, Visio, etc.
i. Working knowledge of CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks™) and GD&T concepts.
j. Special Skills: Experience in manufacturing systems development desired. Knowledge of SPC, DOE and statistical analysis a plus. Use and knowledge of Lean and DFSS tools desired.
