Objectives/Purpose of Job:
Execute production planning and scheduling for contract packaging operations to ensure efficient and timely production of goods. This role focuses on coordinating production schedules, managing inventory levels, and supporting procurement and quality activities. This position works closely with supply chain, procurement, quality assurance, sales, and manufacturing to support seamless operations of the contract packaging portion of supply.
Key Activities/Responsibilities:
- Production Planning & Scheduling: Develop and maintain production schedules for co-packing facilities. Coordinate with supply chain and procurement to ensure timely material availability and production execution against forecast and demand.
- Inventory Management: Manage and monitor inventory levels of finished goods, work-in-process, and bulk materials to optimize stock positions and minimize waste. Coordinate inventory transfers between co-packers and company facilities.
- Order Management & Procurement Support: Generate purchase orders for materials and services required for contract packaging operations. Support procurement team with quotes, specifications, and delivery requirements. Provide demand forecasting input to support material planning.
- Production Coordination: Serve as primary point of contact between co-packers and internal teams. Communicate production requirements, schedules, and changes. Track production status and alert stakeholders to potential delays or issues.
- Quality & Compliance Support: Collaborate with Quality Assurance teams to ensure products meet company and regulatory standards. Document quality issues and facilitate corrective actions with co-packers.
- Reporting & Visibility: Prepare production status reports and maintain visibility of stock positions. Communicate inventory and production data to commercial teams and leadership. Use data to identify service issues and implement counter measures.
- Systems Management: Use production planning systems and ERP tools to schedule production, manage inventory, and generate forecasting signals. Interpret data from multiple systems to support planning decisions.
- Process Improvement: Identify and implement improvements to planning processes, scheduling efficiency, and operational workflows. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance service and reduce costs.
Qualifications/Training:
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, logistics, manufacturing operations, or related field highly preferred
- 0–5 years of experience in production planning, demand planning, or supply chain operations is ideal
- Demonstrated experience with inventory control and planning in a manufacturing or contract manufacturing environment
- Experience or exposure to MRP systems and their planning signals
- Exposure to supply chain operations in pharmaceutical, medical device, or consumer goods preferred
Special Skills
- Strong analytical and organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
- Proficiency with production planning software and ERP systems (BlueYonder and ERP-Lx experience a plus)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to clearly communicate with cross-functional teams
- Data-driven mindset with ability to interpret reports and data to drive decisions
- Problem-solving orientation with attention to detail and quality focus
