Purpose of Job:

The Planning Manager is responsible for generating a supply plan that maximizes global customer service in the most cost-effective manner, while optimizing manufacturing efficiencies.

Will work closely with Quality, Operations, APAC & LATAM regional Supply Chain teams and US Consumer Commercial team, as well as Maintenance to coordinate production schedules with necessary compliance and maintenance activities.

 

 

Key Activities:

  • Play a major contributing / driving role in the newly developing Global Lenscare S&OP process.
  • Balance international demand with US requirements to ensure equitable global supply / support.
  • Monitor relevant intercompany orders, as well as stock positions in DC, to analyze and interpret demand signals and their impact on the manufacturing site; work with operations to develop appropriate supply plans to meet these requirements.
  • Manage and provide guidance to production planners and material clerks; give regular feedback to team and complete / deliver annual performance reviews.
  • Work closely with the plant scheduler, who will establish capacity / load measures based on manufacturing performance and demand make-up.
  • Review demand forecast and recommend adjustments as necessary.
  • Monitor Gross Factory Sales to react quickly to ‘under or over’ forecasted finished goods.
  • Develop recovery plans for potential stock outs due to under forecasting or late deliveries.
  • Highlight products with low forecast accuracy and work with team to improve and meet forecast accuracy goals.
  • Provide guidance to commercial teams related to any potential service or backorder issues.
  • Monitor performance to established metrics and create appropriate measures to negate unfavorable trends.
  • Maintain all relevant planning system parameters at the site.
  • Integral participant in plant budgeting process; supply load and corresponding configuration changes in coming year to allow operations to determine labor models.
  • Work closely with purchasing staff on relevant issues pertaining to the demand and supply of raw materials and packaging components.
  • Actively monitor overall spend to remain within department budget.
  • Lead team on projects related to production planning improvements.
  • Execute other managerial and operational disciplines of the Planning Department as and when required.
  • Maintain the credibility of the department within the Organization through a professional and mature approach while delivering on commitments.

 

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree a plus.
  • ASCM (APICS) – CPIM or CSCP certification desired

 

 

Experience:

 

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing planning / procurement with comprehensive knowledge of Planning / Inventory Management and a detailed understanding of all other Supply Chain functions; Consumer Goods experience a plus.
  • Must have a solid understanding of MRP / ERP software and the ability to configure settings to produce the desired result; the facility uses several systems (ERPLx, Manugistics, and PeopleSoft) that share data, and the ability to reconcile them is a must.
  • Ability to use Excel at an advanced level
