The Systems/Controls Engineer I will support equipment upgrades, repairs and continuous improvement activities for the Vision Care Process Engineering Department. This engineer will be focused on the controls systems and automated equipment used by the group.
Responsibilities
- Provide controls support to the Vision Care Process Engineering Labs, including equipment, and maintenance support.
- Develop and implement new technologies to improve cost and quality of existing strategic medical device products. Work with internal resources and outside vendors in developing technical solutions for automated equipment.
- Complete work according to project schedules.
- Communicate status of project activities on a regular basis.
- Support product, platform, and cost improvement programs by delivering qualified machine controls and PLC software.
- Interface with QA and Process Engineering to successfully validate software systems. Author and execute software test scripts.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Electrical, Electro-Mechanical, or other similar technology degree, or equivalent training and experience
- 1+ years' experience with controls systems
- PLC hardware and programming
- HMI programming
- PLC Network communications (Ethernet IP)
- Electrical circuit design
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, troubleshoot and repair automated systems

Ability to learn new skills via training with co-workers and industry specific training

Demonstrated self‑starter with the ability to take initiative, work independently, and effectively prioritize tasks in a fast‑paced environment.

Hands‑on approach, with a willingness to dive into the details, execute alongside the team, and take ownership of deliverables from start to finish.
Preferences:
- Servo drives and motors
- Electrical Hardware design
- Electrical Schematic Design using AUTOCAD
- Robots including 6-axis and SCARA
- Barcode Scanners and vision systems
- Mechanical skills

This position will be based in US - Rochester, NY (GEHC)

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting pay for this role is between $65,000.00 and $95,000.00. The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives. They may also be eligible to participate in medical, dental, vision insurance, disability and life insurance, a 401(k) plan and company match, a tuition reimbursement program (select degrees), company holidays, and well-being benefits, among others.
