Shift: 6:00p-6:00a

 

Objectives:

To provide leadership to a team of Maintenance Technicians that supports automated production equipment producing high quality contact lenses.  To effectively manage labor resources, materials and utilization of equipment to meet/exceed production goals and objectives. To maintain compliance to quality standards, GMP's, and SOP's in a safe and compliant manner.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and motivate a diverse group of employees by promoting teamwork and continuous improvement to meet defined goals and objectives.
  • Utilizes performance tracking metrics to monitor performance and provides timely feedback to employees on opportunities and recognize employees for excellence.
  • Provide mentorship to new team leaders within the department.
  • Ability to work well with technical and manufacturing staff and to provide timely updates to plant management on key initiatives.
  • Ensure employees are compliant to company policies and procedures.
  • Report/Resolve employee related issues with Human Resources.
  • Serve as communications liaison between employees and management staff/support groups.
  • Ensure all shift Tier meetings have Plant Maintenance Representation and any production issues are communicated to the Group Leaders and technical staff.
  • Lead daily Team Communication meeting and update metrics on Team Bulletin Board.
  • Manage Action item list developed from shift crossovers as well as daily level 1 and 2 cross-functional Team meetings. Includes coordinating the necessary resources from Operations and Engineering staff to complete in an efficient manner.
  • Ensure all staff members are fully utilized during the shift to include repairs, training, and rebuilds, and PM’s.
  • Manage all Apprenticeship activities for any Apprentices on the assigned shift.
  • Ensure compliance to all FDA regulations specific to the Maintenance staff to include; proper safety regulations are followed, logbooks are signed after each ticket is resolved or pass on to the subsequent shift, and ticket system entries are updated for each item taken.
  • Monitor the production repair ticket board and assist Group Leaders in allocating technical resources to address all items in a timely manner.
  • Assist Group Leaders in managing the Plant Priorities in the most efficient manner. 
  • Backfill Group Leader role when necessary.
  • Maintain both written and verbal shift-to-shift communication to ensure all keys issues are well understood and any items with extended downtime are well documented.
  • Work with inventory specialists to ensure spare parts needed for any line-down scenarios have a path forward to getting parts ASAP.
  • Assist in the recruiting effort for any open positions within the team.
  • Coordinate all training efforts for the staff on the assigned shift.
  • Manage staffing shortages as well as overtime within the shift.
  • Responsible for time and attendance tracking and bi-weekly pay period approvals.

 

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, BA/BS in a technical related field preferred.
  • 5+ years technical supervisory experience required.  Experience in FDA/ISO regulated (Medical Device) industry preferred.
  • Ability to lead a technical team in making decisions best suited to achieve continuous improvement.
  • Strong Organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Strong Computer skills.
  • Ability to lead technical projects and good understanding of automated equipment, proper troubleshooting techniques and industry standard safety protocols.
  • Executes with Urgency and Delivers on promises to the employees.

As required by New York State's pay transparency bill, Bausch + Lomb provides a good faith minimum and maximum salary range of compensation for roles that can or will be performed, in New York State.  Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.  For New York State, the range of starting annual base pay for this role is $80,000 - $90,000.00.
