Objectives

Subject matter expert in contact lens measurement and metrology systems from early innovation/concept development through implementation.  Provide technical expertise in establishing specifications, developing, debugging and qualifying Metrology Systems in support of Contact Lens Development.   Provide project coordination and leadership of metrology systems development and qualification. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Interface w/ customers and internal functions to define and develop specifications and requirements of innovative metrology technologies and methods.
  • Coordinate development, testing and qualification of advanced ophthalmic metrology systems.
  • Represent function as subject matter expert in contact lens measurement and metrology development.
  • Effectively interface with internal customers, external vendors and local management to rapidly assess and successfully troubleshoot technical problems.
  • Provide technical leadership and support on development and commercialization teams.
  • Develop and implement test methods and documented procedures.
  • Conduct Engineering studies and equipment qualifications including preparing protocols, supporting execution of protocols and analyzing/summarizing results.
  • Provide mentoring to less experienced engineers and technicians.

 

Requirements

  • BS Mechanical or Optical Engineering or related curriculum (MS preferred)
  • Demonstrated expertise w/ MS Office product (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and MS Project
  • Experienced w/ statistical analysis applications (Minitab preferred)
  • Familiar w/ Design for Six Sigma methodologies including I2DOV process
  • 7+ years relevant industrial experience in medical device metrology development
  • Technical Project management experience
  • Working knowledge of optical and mechanical metrology systems used to measure and manufacturing process of ophthalmic products
  • Proficient in applied statistics
  • Familiar w/ regulated medical device development environment (ISO/FDA)
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills including demonstrated ability to interact and influence all levels of the organization
  • Mechanical and optical design experience desired (Solidworks/Zemax)

As required by New York State's pay transparency bill, Bausch + Lomb provides a good faith minimum and maximum salary range of compensation for roles that can or will be performed, in New York State.  Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.  For New York State, the range of starting hourly pay for this role is $85,000 to $130,000.
