OBJECTIVES

Represent R&D Microbiology as a lead scientist in microbiology testing including disinfection efficacy, preservative efficacy, bioburden, and neutralizer efficacy validation test procedures. The Scientist II will perform microbiological testing according to established procedures and provide support for the development of novel test protocols to support product development projects and expand internal testing capabilities. In particular, the Scientist II will focus on hydrogen peroxide disinfection efficacy testing to support maintenance of business needs for commerciallyavailable peroxide product.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  1. Implement novel microbiology testing protocols to support new product development programs, research activities, stability programs and regulatory submissions as directed and supported by department management.
  2. Develop and validate novel testing techniques to increase R&D internal capabilities for the microbiological testing of contact lens care products in development or currently commercialized by Bausch+ Lomb, as needed.
  3. Participate as lead scientist for project teams and any required microbiology testing for product development and/ or maintenance of business, as needed.
  4. Provide updates to project team members with proven data generated to support new product development or quality change requests.
  5. Troubleshoot and identify any unexpected results and participate as a subject matter expert in root cause investigations related to microbiology testing.
  6. Review and approve study documentation for department colleagues, checking for accuracy, compliance, and completeness.
  7. Train junior scientists in multiple areas to establish best practices in R&D Microbiology.

 

 

REQUIREMENTS

Associate degree (AS) with a minimum of 15 years relevant experience, Bachelor degree (BS) with a minimum of 10 years relevant experience, Master degree (MS) with a minimum 5 years relevant experience.

 

 

As required by New York State's pay transparency bill, Bausch + Lomb provides a good faith minimum and maximum salary range of compensation for roles that can or will be performed, in New York State.  Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.  For New York State, the annual range of base salary for this role is $70,000 to $100,000.
