Objectives:

The Project Engineer is responsible for managing / supporting complex business critical projects aligned with the Rochester Manufacturing site priorities to ensure successful project implementations. 

 

To complete engineering projects by organizing and controlling project elements to support medical device manufacturing operation, new technology/product deployment, & quality/compliance requirements.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Serves as the site project lead for new product launches and new product setups. 
  • Develops project objectives by creating/reviewing project proposals and plans and conferring with plant management and other company stakeholders including Commercial, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, R&D, and Quality.
  • Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements. Works with functional managers in matrix organization(s) to assign personnel to project phases and elements.
  • Determines project schedule by studying project plans and objectives, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements. 
  • Participates in a cross-functional team(s) with Project Management, Quality, Operations, and Engineering to ensure successful collaborative implementations. 
  • Initiates and implements QCRs to introduce product and process changes.
  • Leads/supports process validations and manufacturing/supply chain remediation activities.
  • Maintains project schedule by monitoring project progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.  Manages mitigations and elvates project execution challenges & risks as needed.
  • Controls project costs by monitoring and adhering to project budgets.
  • Reviews and updates relevant procedures, specifications, and work instructions within the scope of the project work.
  • Writes and coordinates execution of test strategies, engineering studies,  equipment/process qualifications, and process validations.
  • Ensures project compliance to company policies and quality directives, including change control, validation, and NC/CAPA.
  • Lead and/or support Lead and/or support troubleshooting project/technical issues, Non-Conformance (NC) Investigations; Root Cause Analyese, and implementation of Corrective Actions / Preventive Actions (CAPA) as required.
  • Lead and/or support continuous improvement, cost improvement, and/or safety projects.
  • Maintains a high degree of flexbility to coordinate a variety of different tasks and projects that support Rochester Manufacturing Operations 7x24 fabrication of medical devices.

 

Requirements:

  • BS required; Degree in Engineering discipline preferred. 
  • 5+ years in Project Management or and Engineering role demonstrating a progression of project managment scope and impact.
  • Medical device manufacturing or other FDA-regulated industry experience preferred.  
  • Specialized Training: Project Management, Manufacturing Methods and Procedures, Process Improvement, Technical Understanding, Documentation Skills, Presentation Skills, Team Building, LEAN / 6 Sigma, Validation, MS Project.
  • Innovation, project management skills, problem solving and analytical skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, the ability to self-direct and prioritize, and excellent communication skills are essential.

As required by New York State's pay transparency bill, Bausch + Lomb provides a good faith minimum and maximum salary range of compensation for roles that can or will be performed, in New York State.  Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.  For New York State, the range of starting hourly pay for this role is $70,000 - $108,000 annually.
