Position summary:
This engineer will support plastics and process engineering activity for development, capacity expansion, continuity of supply, and maintenance of business functions.

 

Key responsibilities:
Provide engineering support for the design, development, and manufacturing scale up of lens products and platforms.

Participate in the identification, selection, and installation of primary and secondary processing equipment.

Support critique of part designs for manufacturability and optimum molding performance including use of simulation software.

Participate in critique of new tool designs for a bust mechanical design and optimum molding performance.

Guide identification and selection of plastic materials for ongoing development of material obsolescence.

Ability to troubleshoot molding process and equipment issues with established platforms.

Engage on activities with external suppliers, molders, tool makers, and material suppliers.

Support tooling debug and process development with suppliers.  

Responsible for development of processes that consistently yields parts conforming to specifications.

Participate in design of experiments to establish robust manufacturing process performance.

Support technology transfer of new products and processes.

Participate in process qualifications and validation with generation of appropriate documentation.


Qualifications and experience:
BS Plastics Engineering, with minimum of 2 years of engineering experience with injection molding processes or tooling.

Experience with Minitab, Tableau, RJG, Six Sigma, DOE, Design software (SolidWorks).

Knowledge of injection molding equipment, process, and tooling required.

Experience in direct support of development and manufacturing.

Demonstrated skills in plastic component design, injection mold tooling expertise, tight tolerance process development and validation preferred.

Project / team participant and familiarity with FDA regulated products.

Sound troubleshooting and analytical capabilities.

Experience with Design for Manufacturing concepts, working knowledge of materials and injection molding fabrication methods.

As required by New York State's pay transparency bill, Bausch + Lomb provides a good faith minimum and maximum salary range of compensation for roles that can or will be performed, in New York State.  Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.  For New York State, the range of starting annual base pay for this role is $70,000 - $108,000.
