Position summary:
The Mechanical Engineer II provides mechanical and optical measurement capabilities for Vision Care, Surgical and Pharma business units and measuring services for both products and tooling.   The position supports engineering, manufacturing and incoming inspection metrology services.

 

Key responsibilities:
•  Develop and realize mechanical measurement systems and fixtures for closure systems, ophthalmic medical devices, molds, gages, and plastic and metal parts and components.
•  Support validations, change control and root cause analysis.
•  Perform mechanical testing, analyze data, and prepare reports and presentations.
•  Program Smartscope and CMM.
•  Test mechanical features using coordinate measuring machines (CMM), video-based inspection and measurement equipment (e.g. SmartScope), and gauges.
•  Guide the qualification of new measurement and testing equipment.
•  Interface with end users on training and maintenance of new fixtures and equipment.
•  Effectively interface with various internal and external groups during the development cycle.
•  Develop and implement test procedures and protocols.


Qualifications and experience:
Education: B.S in Mechanical Engineering or Scientific/Engineering discipline with relative technical experience. 
Experience: Minimum of 3 years in a industrial or research setting.
Specialized Training: Optical-based metrology and CMM programming. Working knowledge of CAD software (e.g. SolidWorks™), Practical knowledge of GD&T. 
Practical experience with injection plastic molding and use of machine shop tools.
Good verbal and written communication. 
Familiarity with change control and documentation in a regulated environment (e.g. FDA, MDR, and ISO).
Ability to work well in a fast-paced, multitasking environment.

As required by New York State's pay transparency bill, Bausch + Lomb provides a good faith minimum and maximum salary range of compensation for roles that can or will be performed, in New York State.  Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.  For New York State, the range of starting annual base pay for this role is $70,000 - $108,000.
