This position supports plant manufacturing equipment systems under the direction of the Plant Maintenance Manager.
Work Schedule: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday – Friday
Objective:
The Shop Coordinator plays a central role in ensuring the smooth day-to-day operation of the maintenance shop. This position is responsible for overseeing long-term repair strategies, managing vendor relationships, coordinating audit preparation, and maintaining shop organization standards. The Shop Coordinator serves as a key point of contact for cross-team coordination and acts as a resource for shift change coverage and training support. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities/Activities:
Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Shop Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
- Manage long-term repair strategies and vendor relationships to ensure timely resolution of major equipment issues
- Lead audit preparation activities and oversee project management tasks supporting the maintenance team
- Coordinate equipment calibrations and manage Return Merchandise Authorizations (RMAs)
- Maintain Shop 6S standards and drive continuous improvement in shop organization and cleanliness
- Perform and coordinate hydraulic repairs and upgrades on production and support equipment
- Oversee shop safety management, ensuring compliance with OSHA and Bausch + Lomb safety policies
- Triage maintenance backlog and coordinate cross-team efforts to prioritize and resolve outstanding work orders
- Assist Reliability Lead with equipment life monitoring and planned equipment interventions as required
- Provide shift change backup support to ensure continuity of operations
- Serve as a trainer backup resource to support onboarding and skills development for team members
- Manage tool and toolbox inventory, ensuring equipment is available, organized, and properly maintained
- Maintain and update documents and engineering drawings (DWGs) to ensure current and accurate records
- Participate in candidate interviews to support the hiring and growth of the maintenance team
- Minimal travel to support equipment build/integration and/or training may be required.
Qualifications/experience:
Education: High school diploma required. Technical apprenticeship or Associate's degree in a related electrical, mechanical, or industrial field preferred; equivalent job experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Specialized Skills:
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and plant safety compliance
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Familiarity with ticket and PM work order management systems
- Understanding of cGMP practices and experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and engineering documentation
- Strong organizational, communication, and project coordination skills
Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a maintenance technician or maintenance coordination role performing equipment repairs, vendor coordination, and preventative maintenance activities.
- Medical device or other regulated industry experience is beneficial.
- Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, communicate effectively across teams, and drive process improvements in a manufacturing environment.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting pay for this role is between $32 - $45. The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors.
U.S. based employees may be eligible for short-term and/or long-term incentives.
