The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for providing the technical, operational and strategic leadership to the Rochester Operations management team, operating in an FDA/ISO regulated medical device manufacturing environment. The Director of Manufacturing will:

  • Direct, manage and coordinate all Operational activities within the main value streams of the plant
  • Translate business unit needs and Plant strategies into operational plans
  • Define and lead operations processes and functions, setting goals for the operations team which improve safety; exceed quality and delivery expectations; reduce operating costs; reduce inventory; and drive overall operational excellence.
  • Develop and deploy strategic goals for the manufacturing operation
  • Integrate Enterprise Excellence tools and systems into day to day operations



  • Participate fully as a member of the Senior Management Team in formulating and administering site strategy, policies, while developing long term goals and objectives. This includes the providing direction, focus, motivation and communication of activities that sustain operational excellence.
  • Lead and manage the operational Value Streams to ensure maximum effectiveness is obtained for the production of quality products within specified time and budgetary guidelines.
  • Manage all aspects of capacity planning, manufacturing & product delivery
  • Accountable to ensure products meet or exceed customer quality standards and required delivery schedules are met.
  • Interface with R&D, Engineering, and Program Management to coordinate the production process for the introduction of new products and process improvements.
  • Manage new product qualification, introduction and rapid ramp to high volume supply.
  • Support activities which ensure the site’s equipment is adequately designed, built and maintained. The emphasis will be to reduce labor cost, scrap, and ensure a product free of defects.
  • Achieve excellence in operational goals for supply, quality, yield and cost.
  • Partner with functional managers to achieve company and plant goals
  • Provide expertise, guidance and direction on operations issues in line with local policies and procedures.
  • Lead and support change management initiatives in a dynamic, fast paced, manufacturing organization.
  • Develop a high performing organization.  Lead talent and succession planning activities for operations function.

  • Bachelors degree required, technical or management discipline strongly preferred.  MBA or other advanced degree highly desired.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing experience required.  Experience in medical device manufacturing, or other FDA / ISO regulated environment strongly preferred,
  • 5+ years of management experience leading diverse teams with a proven history of success with documented evidence of increasing responsibilities and examples of successful leadership.
  • Strong Operational Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment required.  Experience and ability to work across business functions in a matrix organization to build teamwork and get results is required.
