The Chemistry Technician IV supports the development and ongoing improvement of contact lens and lens care products by conducting analytical testing and product evaluations. The Chemistry Technician IV is integral to ensuring product stability, performance, and compatibility, working closely with R&D teams to support both new innovations and existing products throughout their lifecycle.
 

Responsibilities

  • Conduct analytical laboratory testing to support contact lens stability programs for both new product development and commercially marketed products.
  • Perform routine and non-routine testing using established analytical techniques, including UV-Vis spectrophotometry, pH, osmolality, color and clarity, water content, refractive index, and dimensional measurements.
  • Utilize precision measurement equipment such as Deltronic systems, ISO-compliant SNAP instrumentation, and CT gauges to ensure accurate and reliable data collection.
  • Support lens care product development by conducting lens compatibility studies and performing image analysis to evaluate product performance.
  • Accurately document test results in accordance with GMP requirements, SOPs, and good documentation practices. 
  • Maintain laboratory organization, ensure proper handling and care of equipment, and support general lab operations as needed.
  • Collaborate effectively with R&D team members, contributing to problem-solving efforts and continuous improvement initiatives.
     

 

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree with a minimum of two (2) years of relevant laboratory experience, or a Bachelor’s degree with at least one (1) year of relevant experience. Candidates with a high school diploma and a minimum of three (3) years of relevant laboratory experience will also be considered.
  • Experience working in a GMP-regulated laboratory or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of general GMP requirements and good documentation practices.
  • Prior experience with Wet Lens Audits, regulatory inspections, or GMP audit support activities is preferred.
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision while meeting established timelines. 
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively as a team player within a cross-functional R&D environment. 
  • Demonstrated capability to follow formal procedures, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and protocols accurately. 
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail and the ability to multitask. 
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; comfortable using calculators and basic data tools.

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting pay for this role is between $24.00 - $36.00 per hour.  The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors.
