Objectives:

Coordinate, perform, document, and/or review chemical and physical tests on raw materials, finished products, and components according to established procedures to support Rochester Contact Lens Manufacturing. 

 

Responsibilities:

•    Perform hands on testing with HPLC ( Waters/Empower) and GC (Agilent/Open lab).
•    Perform laboratory analysis right first time, contemporaneous documentation, analyze and document the results.
•    Maintain accurate record of analysis and perform documentation to company standards.
•    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
•    Maintains knowledge of the latest guidelines of regulatory requirements of International Conference of Harmonization, ISO standards, USP, USFDA and OSHA
•    Knowledge and/or hands on method development.
•    Must possess initiative and trouble shooting ability.
•    Conducts laboratory investigations and non-conformances.
•    Collaborate well with multidisciplinary teams and possess outstanding communication skills.
•    Provides oversight and guidance updates to the internal procedures, compendia standards review and GMP requirements.  
•    Provide guidance to small group of laboratory chemists who are responsible for conducting analysis of  raw and in process materials utilizing HPLC, GC, and wet chemistry techniques.
•    Work with manager in planning workloads of the team to ensure the analysis meets all quality criteria and business delivery timelines.

 

Requirements:

•    BS degree in Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry or related field required. 10+ years of chemical laboratory / analytical experience may be considered in lieu of related degree. 
•    4+ years chemical laboratory / analytical experience preferably in an FDA regulated industry.
•    2+ years Professional experience with analytical instruments such as HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV/VIS Spectroscopy.
•    2+ years understanding of GMP/ ISO requirements pertaining to laboratory and manufacturing operations preferred.
•    Excellent oral and written communication along with organizational skills are required.
•    Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills are required.
•    Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.

As required by New York State's pay transparency bill, Bausch + Lomb provides a good faith minimum and maximum salary range of compensation for roles that can or will be performed, in New York State.  Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.  For New York State, the range of starting annual salary for this role is $64,000 - $98,000.
