Objectives:

Performs multiple contact lens manufacturing tasks, including contact lens order preparation, blocking, polishing, product inspection (in-process and incoming materials), packaging, shipping, and operating state-of-the-art precision lathing equipment. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Operates manual polishing machines, contact lens optical blocking equipment, and performs contact lens deblocking. May operate highly automated computerized contact lens manufacturing lathing equipment.
  • Maintains established performance standards for made-to-order product service levels to the customer.
  • Works together with the production team within an established Quality Management System keeping and maintaining a high level of manufacturing performance.
  • Uses the contact lens order system (Focal Points) from "launch in production" building production orders through shipping.
  • Maintains lens identification and traceability throughout the process steps.
  • Reads and understands standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documentation. Assures compliance with established government regulations, quality standards, test protocols, maintenance requirements, and production SOPs.
  • Accurately records data and observations during contact lens production and testing protocols.
  • Provides direct input to daily production workflow to include system data entry and ongoing issues.
  • Commands a working knowledge of the manufacturing processes in order to maintain awareness of process events that occur outside the lensmaker's direct responsibility that may impact product integrity / performance.
  • Coordinates daily tasks with supervisor and co-workers maintaining production flow and service level performance.
  • Handles incoming materials, replenishment of production supplies, and equipment maintenance. Maintains a clean and orderly workstation.
  • Follows good safety practices and company policies related to keeping a safe workplace environment.
  • May occasionally be expected to work overtime, as staffing needs require. 
  • Participates in business-related projects and activities upon request of management.

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
  • Must have basic computer skills and good verbal and written communication skills. Strong math skills are a plus.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination (handling of small parts).
  • No experience required; on-the-job training is provided.
  • Medical device manufacturing experience preferred but not required.

 

For U.S. locations that require disclosure of compensation, the starting pay for this role is between $16.50 - $20.00 per hour].  The estimated salary range reflects an anticipated range for this position. The actual base salary offered may depend on a variety of factors.
