Position summary:

The Head of External Communications will be responsible for promoting and protecting the Bausch + Lomb brand globally. Working closely with the Chief Communications Officer (CCO), this role will develop and execute a proactive plan that relies heavily on traditional and social media to tell the company story. This is a great opportunity for someone to showcase Bausch + Lomb’s ongoing evolution for multiple audiences, including 13,000 colleagues around the world.


Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive external communications strategy aligned to company objectives.
  • Partner with business unit communications leads to amplify business news, highlight employees, and tell site-specific stories for external audiences.
  • Serve as primary spokesperson for the company with media, as appropriate.
  • Oversee enterprise social channels – Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram – and develop a comprehensive editorial calendar for social engagement.
  • Develop social strategies to amplify company leadership.
  • Monitor and analyze both media and social metrics to continuously improve effectiveness and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with CCO and others on financial communications including earnings, conference appearances, etc.
  • Develop an issues management playbook and rapid response protocol, with continuous testing.
  • Oversee corporate website.



  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations or related field required. 
  • 15+ years of experience in communications, with a focus on media relations and social media engagement.
  • Experience working in a global organization preferred, with the ability to navigate cultural differences and communicate effectively across different regions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
