The Manager, Category Management will be responsible for managing indirect procurement for the HR, Professional Services, Travel, Fleet & Contingent Labor categories for Bausch + Lomb (B+L). This position reports to the Executive Director, Finance - Indirect Procurement.  The position is responsible for developing and implementing category management strategies and leading sourcing and contracting processes to ensure optimal cost efficiency, performance driven supplier relationships, and operational effectiveness.  Strong category knowledge within these categories is critical to demonstrate procurement value to key stakeholders and drive adoption of best practices.

 

Responsibilities

  • Category Management Strategy: Develop and execute comprehensive category management strategies, in alignment with B+L's strategic plan, financial, and operational objectives along with business needs.
  • Category Planning: Develop short- and long-term category plans by incorporating internal business needs analysis with insights from market intelligence, benchmarking and knowledge of supply base and global market or regional differences to maximize value and performance.
  • Strategic Sourcing: Implement strategic sourcing methodologies, identify and select the most cost-effective and innovative suppliers while managing internal stakeholder relationships.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Identify, onboard, and manage relationships with suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and pricing.
  • Cost Optimization: Lead initiatives to optimize spending, drive cost savings, and improve procurement processes, while maintaining quality standards.
  • Contract Management: Oversee the negotiation, management, and drafting of contracts with multiple vendors, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements to manage risk.
  • Market Analysis and Innovation: Stay informed about industry trends and market conditions to make informed sourcing decisions and to drive competitive advantage, with a bias towards identifying and promoting innovative solutions, products, and technologies. Develop and maintain knowledge-and fact-base of the category
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams within the business, finance, and HR to align procurement strategies and business needs by soliciting regular input, sharing best practices and wins, and escalating issues as needed.
  • Budget Management: Collaborate with the Executive Director of Indirect Procurement to manage the procurement budget for these categories, track expenses, and report on cost savings.
  • Compliance: Ensure that all procurement activities adhere to company policies, industry standards, and legal regulations.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, HR & Professional Services, Supply Chain Management, or related field required. MBA preferred.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in strategic sourcing, indirect procurement, and/or supply chain management in pharmaceutical, medical device, or healthcare industries.
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating complex service agreements and sourcing for multiple indirect categories.
  • Proven experience in RFI/RFP/RFQ development, evaluation, negotiations, execution, and contract management.
  • Excellent negotiation, contract management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Applied experience in the understanding of legal issues, contractual principles, and negotiation techniques used in the development of complex contractual agreements.
  • Exceptional leadership and team management abilities as a strategic thinker with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Knowledge of procurement software and systems; must be familiar with supply base performance metrics and key performance indicators.
