Objectives/Purpose of Job:

  • Supervises the Raw Material Quality Control laboratory attending the business needs. Provides technical guidance, training, direction, evaluation of personnel and addresses personnel issues on a timely manner. Meet the RM release and retest timelines and leads project improvements to increase the lab efficiency. Monitor and report the department metrics
  • Participate in cross functional teams to support the laboratory investigations and non-conformance to ensure quality and release of raw materials. Responsible for maintaining the RC/CAPA.
  • Participate in weekly Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and discuss open quality indicators and non-conforming issues. Provide support and guidance to Quality departments in aspects related to RM testing and release.

 

Key Activities/Responsibilities:

1.         Supervise staff in connection with all RM testing and data reporting.

2.         Supervises, develops work schedules and assures proper workload distribution for all of the team members.

3.         Responsible for team meeting RM release quality and timing requirements.

4.         Work with Quality and other departments to solve and prevent laboratory operations/quality related problems.

5.         Responsible for overseeing compliance in RM lab operation process. Provides as technical expert for area.

6.         Implement testing documentation process to reduce data record review time and increase timely response to manufacture requirements.

7.         Responsible for human resources within the RM department, including periodic evaluations against plans and standards, training, direction and addresses personnel issues.

8.         Responsible for the GMP compliance of all functions and processes of the areas in charge and responsible for continuous improvement.

9.         Receives and/or initiates LIR, NC and CAPA and reviews such documents for accuracy and completeness before routing for approval.

10.       Participates in weekly MRB meetings with individuals who have pending NC investigations and/or CAPA. Prepares and presents reports; tracks and trends NC and CAPA.

11.       Assume the responsibility for the Environmental Health and Safety procedures awareness and compliance within the respective area.

12.       Support Operational Excellence and WISE OWLS initiatives.

13.       Up to 10 direct reports

 

Qualifications/Training:

  • B. S. in Chemistry or related science.
  • 7+ years in GMP pharmaceutical chemical analysis. Must have excellent oral and written communication skills; Strong leadership skills, time management, planning and organization capabilities. Training in scheduling, budgeting and investigational skills a must.
  • Writing and computer skills are required. Ability to communicate and work well with others. 
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English and possess basic math skills.
