Objectives/Purpose of the Job:

Perform routine and non-routine microbiological testing and environmental monitoring (EM) in support of sterile manufacturing operations.

 

Key Activities/Responsibilities/Job Function:

  • Prepare equipment/supplies/paperwork for EM/laboratory testingDon appropriate attire including lab coat, scrubs, coveralls, or sterile garment as required.
  • Perform routine and investigational environmental monitoring of classified manufacturing, filling, and support areas, as well as operations personnel monitoring.
  • Collect viable and non-viable samples from facility cleanrooms/personnel.
  • Collect critical utility samples (WFI/Pure Air)
  • Document sample collection/testing/results in accordance with good documentation practices/ALCOA principles
  • Incubate/read samples.
  • Perform data into GLIMS.
  • Operate EM/Laboratory equipment including:
    • MetOne, Pinocchio (Compress Air), air sampler, etc.
  • Perform visual inspection of media fill units for turbidity/microbial presence.
  • Perform testing of WFI in accordance with standard operating procedures/methods including Bioburden and endotoxin/enhancement testing
  • Perform non-routine monitoring/testing in conjunction with laboratory investigations and validation activities.
  • Maintains inventory of laboratory supplies
  • All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree in microbiology, Biology, or equivalent Life Science required.
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience in a cGMP compliant industry preferred

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

  • Ability to lift and/or carry 25 lbs.
  • Ability to achieve 20/20 correctable vision.
  • Ability to maintain proper personal hygiene.
  • Ability to wear laboratory PPE/attire.
  • EM Technician III - ability to gown aseptically and work in a controlled environment for extended periods of time (no makeup, jewelry, fingernail polish, etc.)

Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers and management.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work full-time, onsite, including overtime and weekends if necessary to meet department / site objectives.
  • Ability to understand and accurately comply with SOPs, test methods, and cGMP requirements.
  • Intermediate communication skills (oral and written)
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Strong organization skills / attention to detail
  • Good work ethic (on time, highly motivated, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of microbiological testing / environmental monitoring techniques.

Eligibility for Internal Applicants:                                                                                                          

  • Have no corrective actions at the written warning level in last six months/no final warning level in the last 12 months/no active PIP. 
  • Meet the qualifications of the position as stated above.        
  • Be in your current job for 12 months.                                                                                                  
  • Position applying for must be a step up in progression and not a step down.
