Objectives/Purpose of Job:
Leads procurement strategy and execution for U.S. pharmaceutical and lens care manufacturing operations, including internal sites and external contract manufacturers. Accountable for supply continuity, cost competitiveness, regulatory compliance, and supplier performance across a $70M+ spend portfolio.
Key Activities/Responsibilities:
Procurement Strategy & Leadership
• Develop and execute multi year sourcing and category strategies aligned with business objectives, growth plans, and risk mitigation priorities.
• Provide functional leadership for procurement across U.S. pharma and lens care manufacturing operations, serving as the primary procurement leader for internal sites and external CMOs.
Supplier & Contract Manufacturing Management
• Lead strategic sourcing and supplier selection for chemical entities, packaging components, and key services, including suppliers supporting products in the R&D pipeline.
• Manage supplier qualification and onboarding processes, including regulatory approvals where no suitable suppliers currently exist.
• Serve as the procurement lead for U.S. contract manufacturing, including pricing strategy, contract negotiation, and ongoing supplier performance management.
• Develop, negotiate, and manage supply and service agreements in partnership with Legal to ensure optimal cost, quality, reliability, and compliance.
Cost Management & Financial Performance
• Deliver annual and multi year cost savings targets through competitive sourcing, negotiations, value analysis, and demand management.
• Manage standard costs, track and forecast Purchase Price Variance (PPV), and ensure compliance with negotiated contracts. Supports CAPEx initiatives for Tampa, Greenville and CMO's related to products performance and capacities.
• Leverage enterprise and cross site spend where appropriate to maximize economies of scale and compliance with corporate agreements.
• Optimize inventory levels of raw materials and packaging components to balance working capital efficiency with uninterrupted supply.
Quality, Compliance & Risk Management
• Ensure full compliance with FDA, EPA, GMP, EHS, and other applicable federal, state, and corporate standards across all procurement activities.
• Partner with Quality Assurance to monitor and manage GMP compliance for key chemical suppliers and finished product CMOs.
• Champion second sourcing and supply resiliency initiatives to minimize business interruption risk.
• Maintain strong governance and audit readiness across suppliers and internal procurement processes.
People Leadership & Organization Development
• Lead, coach, and develop procurement professionals, fostering a high performance, compliance driven culture.
• Build procurement capability through talent development, performance management, and succession planning.
• Serve as a collaborative leader across functions and sites, influencing stakeholders without direct authority when required.
Scope of Position:
Responsible for managing and coordinating all sourcing and procurement activities for the Tampa & Greenville Manufacturing Plants. Direct and manage the procurement of raw materials and packaging components for the manufacture of pharmaceutical products internally and externally (CMOs). Manage and control the inventory levels of these purchased goods to optimize cash flow while ensuring uninterrupted supply to the plant.
Develop and manage supply agreements with key suppliers and providers of goods and services to ensure optimal cost, quality and reliability of supply. Supply agreements will be submitted for approval through the corporate legal department.
Qualifications/Training:
• Bachelor's degree with related experience required. MS/MBA/CPM/CPIM a plus.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in sourcing and procurement.
• Demonstrated experience negotiating complex agreements and statements of work.
• Must have proven track record of delivering cost reductions through effective sourcing and negotiation. Procurement supervisory experience required.
• Knowledge of negotiating and implementing service agreements and contracts. Must be familiar with service performance metrics, milestones, and key performance indicators.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to effectively influence all levels of management.
• Ability to develop procurement strategies for both direct and indirect categories.
• Ability to think critically and multitask with sense of urgency.
• Able to deal effectively with individuals from other cultures as key suppliers are located in Europe, Asia and abroad.
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English and possess basic math skills.
