OBJECTIVES / PURPOSE OF JOB
- This intermediate level position involves advanced troubleshooting, managing large-scale repairs, and mentoring junior technicians.
- Under minimum supervision, the Maintenance Tech III is responsible for the maintenance, calibration, PMs, trouble shooting and repair of all Production and other equipment in the facility and for technical support.
KEY ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform routine and advanced maintenance tasks, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing repairs.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, resolving issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
- Conduct regular inspections of equipment, machinery, and facilities to ensure proper functionality and compliance with safety standards.
- Assist in the development and implementation of preventative maintenance programs.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, inspections, and repairs.
- Collaborate with other departments to address maintenance needs and ensure operational efficiency.
- Train and mentor junior technicians as needed.
- Follow all safety protocols, OSHA regulations, and company policies to maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform advanced diagnostic and troubleshooting tasks for complex mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Lead and execute large-scale maintenance and repair projects, including equipment installations and system upgrades.
- Develop, implement, and oversee preventative maintenance programs to ensure equipment reliability and longevity.
- Analyze system performance data and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, OSHA standards, and company policies during maintenance activities.
- Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for junior technicians, providing training, guidance, and mentorship.
- Coordinate with external vendors and contractors for specialized repairs or installations.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and repair history using BMRAM or similar systems.
- Identify and implement energy-efficient practices and sustainability initiatives.
- Performs and documents general and critical work order requests for facilities and manufacturing support equipment.
- Troubleshoots, repair, and perform preventative maintenance (PM) and Calibrations of facility support equipment.
- Hazardous material, labeling, inspection and storage to comply with prescribed safety procedures and local, state and federal regulations.
- Provides support and oversight of approved vendors and service contractor activities to ensure compliance to procedures and regulations.
- Monitors Building Management System (BMRAM) to maintain facility equipment as intended per manufacturer recommendations with minimal down time.
- Communication of equipment failures to appropriate teams through the Hard Down Notification system to include updates when equipment is worked on and / or repaired.
- Actively participate in Emergency Response Team (ERT)
- Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING
- High school diploma or equivalent; an associate degree, technical certification, or journeyman license in a related field is preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in maintenance or a related field, with advanced expertise in mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems.
- Proficiency with diagnostic tools, precision instruments, and advanced repair techniques.
- Strong ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, technical manuals, and specifications.
- Expertise in using BMRAM or similar maintenance management systems.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills – both verbal and written.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in varying environmental conditions.
- Proficient with computers and/or machine interfaces to access, maintain and/or acquire data.
- Technical training in calibration, electrical, electronics, HVAC, plumbing and fabrication. PC experience a plus.
- Specialized training in Hazardous Material Handling and Storage Rules a plus.
- First Aid, CPR, AED Training (these are company provided trainings to be completed within the required timeframe)
Advanced Skills:
- Automation and Controls: Experience with PLC programming, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Welding and Fabrication: Skilled in MIG, TIG, or arc welding for repairs and custom fabrication projects.
- Advanced HVAC Systems: Knowledge of building automation systems (BAS) and advanced HVAC troubleshooting.
- Energy Management: Experience optimizing systems for energy efficiency and implementing sustainability practices.
- Project Management: Ability to manage multiple maintenance projects, including planning, budgeting, and execution.
- Regulatory Compliance: In-depth understanding of local, state, and federal safety and environmental regulations.
