The location of Schiphol-Rijk is responsible for storage, sorting and sending medical devices within the framework of the Medical Devices Regulations.

The role

Bausch + Lomb Netherlands is currently recruiting for an Environment Health Safety + Sustainability Manager (37,5 hrs) reporting into the Manager Facilities.

Location for this position is the Amsterdam Logistics Center (ALC) in Schiphol-Rijk. The ALC is a highly automated distribution centre with a total surface of 20,000 sqm. The DC ships to more than 71,000 destinations, serving more than 120 countries worldwide. It processes more than 15,000 orders per day and provides Value Added Logistics activities. The facility employs approximately 160 operational FTE’s and 65 office FTE’s.

 

Purpose of the job:

  • Planning, development, evaluation and continual improvement of the EHS+S systems in support of achieving and promoting a sustainable world-class EHS+S culture for the Amsterdam Logistics Center.
  • First point of contact for the organization regarding operational / tactical EHS+S matters.
  • Project management for (CapEx) projects, including but not limited to, Safety, Security, Sustainability and Facilities.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Act as first point of contact for the organization in case of operational / tactical EHS matters (e.g. inspections, risk assessments, toolbox talks)
  • Prevention officer and head of emergency response
  • Conduct or provide guidance on risk assessments and incident investigations as well as ensure for the application, implementation and timely closure of the appropriate control mechanisms (e.g. NC/CAPA’s.)
  • Implement and maintain health and safety regulations (e.g. RI&E), Bausch + Lomb standards and certification requirements (H&S handbook)
  • Prepare and provide in-house training to relevant stakeholders specific to corporate or regulatory requirements.
  • Support and advise Manager Facilities and the ALC MT in setting direction and developing EHS+S strategies
  • Represent the site in Regional EHS+S meetings and projects if requested
  • Act as the site Security Manager Airfreight and first point of contact for the KMar.
  • Have an active role - outside office hrs by rotation - in the site alarm escalation process (e.g. burglar alarms, temp. alarms)
  • Assist in the coordination and improvement (and if necessary, troubleshooting) of critical building systems and services including, but not limited to, Security, building controls, fire protection systems, EPU and HVAC.

 

Profile

  • Passion for Environment Health Safety & Sustainability
  • 3+ years experience in a similar role
  • Potential to grow into a more strategic role in the near future
  • Change Management skills
  • Bachelor in Logistics, Technical Studies, Facility Management, Business Administration or equivalent
  • A degree in industrial safety, industrial hygiene or related discipline (at least “MVK”)
  • Emergency Response (BHV) qualification (or willing to obtain)
  • Security Manager Airfreight qualification (or willing to obtain)
  • Strong oral and written English and Dutch skills.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel/Word/PowerPoint)
  • Project Management and/or Lean Six Sigma qualification preferred
  • (Lead) Auditor qualification preferred
  • Ability to complete projects and assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with and present information to management, authorities and other third parties.
  • Ability to influence and motivate others via strong relationships to drive implementation of policies and procedures without direct authority.
