Mechanical Facilities Technician

Role Overview

The Mechanical Facilities Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the operational integrity of the entire site. This person will serve as the primary point of contact and first responder for all matters related to the facilities’ mechanical systems and infrastructure. Any downtime in these systems can lead to significant production disruptions. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise and experience with mechanical facilities systems, including process engineering systems, contributing directly to the successful delivery of SiHy volume targets.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee all utilities and facilities services to ensure equipment operates at optimal efficiency
  • Maintain high system reliability, supporting production with a targeted uptime of ≥99.94%
  • Ensure all plant equipment and utilities systems are maintained to the highest safety and operational standards
  • Guarantee compliance of all facilities systems with regulatory and statutory requirements (FDA, ISO, HSA)
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA), 5 Whys, and continuous improvement initiatives (CIPs) related to facilities issues
  • Drive cost efficiencies across utilities operations, identifying both budgeted and non-budgeted savings opportunities
  • Provide mechanical and technical support to Facilities Engineering and Technical Services for capital projects
  • Support system redesign and optimisation of plant services alongside Project and Facilities Engineers

Requirements

  • Degree in Building Services, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline (desirable)
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment (pharma/med device strongly preferred)
  • Strong technical knowledge of:
    • HVAC systems
    • Purified Water systems
    • Compressed Air systems
    • Steam systems
    • General building services
  • Solid understanding of FDA, ISO, and HSA regulatory requirements
  • Strong problem-solving skills with experience in structured methodologies (e.g., RCA, 5 Whys)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and capable of making sound decisions in a fast-paced environment
