Purpose:             Sterimedix, a Bausch and Lomb Company, is a world leader in the production of medical devices for use in eye and aesthetic surgery. Based in Redditch, which has a rich history in needle making, the company employs over 70 people in Production, Sales, R&D, Quality, Despatch, Finance and Administration. The Company has ambitious plans for growth based on a track record of increased sales each year. It recently moved into a new and much larger facility in North Moons Moat.                          The role requires the succesful candidate to be responsible for the optimisation of existing, and design of new, production processes.   The Continuous Improvement Engineer will be responsible for implementing and managing Enterprise Excellence principles throughout the full production process of Sterimedix products.

 

General responsibilities to include:

 

  • To be the key point of contact for all Enterprise Excellence (EE) activities and to report all relevant information to required stakeholders.
  • To manage all EE activities on site including Lean principles, Six Sigma activities and 5S programs.
  • To take ownership of all production routings to ensure all are up to date and reflect the work being carried out.
  • Responsibility for amending and updating all production routings as required.
  • To design new production routings to accompany new processes brought into operation.
  • To analyse existing processes and recommend/implement improvements to production efficiency.
  • To monitor production processes and produce reports into machinery up/down time and key process availability.
  • To monitor process capacity and report on ability to meet current/future production demands.
  • To take an active part in project meetings with colleagues and potential suppliers.

 

Because of the nature of your responsibilities, the position demands discretion within the company, and when meeting competitors, customers, or suppliers within or outside of the work environment. This role is based on-site full time. 

 

Relationships with other Departments, Suppliers and Customer:

 

  • A close working relationship with management colleagues and their staff is essential, as well as formal contact with external suppliers and customers.
  • Formal contact with Environmental, Regulatory and other Government agencies.

Hours:

- 37.5 per week: 08.00 - 16.30 Mon - Thurs and 08.00 - 13.30 Fridays
