OBJECTIVE / PURPOSE OF JOB
The Global Director is responsible for planning, organizing, leading and supervising training department. This person is accountable for the development, implementation and delivery of training strategies, programs and processes to support Bausch + Lomb Surgical business goals and objectives.
MAIN ACTIVITIES / RESPONSIBILITY AREA
- Align the training objectives with the overall business goals, and create a training roadmap for different career stages.
- Be the leader for all technical product training needs and programs primarily for Sales Reps, Distributors and Partners.
- Manage a team of US (4 Trainers), European (SeeDS -Train the Trainer- network) and APAC (1 headcount) Trainers
- Proactively explore the technical training needs of all commercial departments (International and US), including knowledge build requirements for entering into new market areas.
- Design, develop and deliver technical training programs for end-user, newly hired employee, partner and distributor:
- Self-study guide and e-learning module
- Train-the-trainer supporting materials
- Classroom materials
- Formal certification process
- Evaluate effectiveness of programs
- Deliver product training that is sufficiently technical, but more geared to business benefits and key competitive differentiators.
- Keep all Training content relevant in rapidly changing industry.
- Leverage technology in training delivery (e-learning & SEISMIC Learning platform)
- Teach the sales team sales processes and procedures, information about the products, and how to handle common questions and product objections.
- Responsible for coaching, developing, and utilizing the International SeeDS (Surgical education expert & Development Specialist) in on-boarding new hires and in all training programs.
- Determines future course offerings to improve the technical knowledge of employees and to satisfy the customer demand for advanced knowledge.
- Work closely with top customers, Key Opinion Leaders and consultants in order to identify key drivers, key barriers, best practices, clinical and practice management pearls and incorporate them into the educational platform.
- Train trade show participants so that they are knowledgeable on all products.
- Maintain and update a database on key competitors and circulate details/updates as appropriate
- Ensure that technical training is aligned with broader business initiatives.
- Produce monthly reports as required
- Leverage technology in training delivery
COMPETENCIES
- 3-5 years of experience in training or learning and development positions, where you've honed your skills in adult learning, instructional design, and training delivery.
- Ability to motivate and lead a team
- Significant experience in the medical device industry (Sales and/or Marketing)
- Ophthalmology experience as an asset
- Experience within a multinational organization / multi-cultural experience
- Very strong presentation and influencing skills
