Responsibilities:

The position is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for pharmaceutical contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs). The role ensures reliable supply, competitive cost structures, high quality standards, and long term supplier performance across assigned product categories. The position partners closely with Quality, Supply Chain, Technical Operations, Finance, and Regulatory teams to secure compliant, cost effective and strategic external manufacturing solutions.

 

  • Lead strategic relationships with CMOs to improve cost, quality, delivery performance and innovation (annual spend $60-70M)
  • Conduct regular business reviews (SRM) and monitor KPIs, performance metrics, and contractual compliance
  • Develop and execute cost saving initiatives and continuous improvement programs.
  • Perform cost modelling and scenario analysis to support strategic decisions.
  • Negotiate supply agreements, pricing structures, service levels, and commercial terms.
  • Ensure contract lifecycle management, renewal processes, and change control adherence
  • Cooperate with internal procurement teams to identify synergies and unlock supplier/product value
  • Build leverage and develop sourcing strategies with key global, regional and local suppliers
  • Screen product base and design re-sourcing strategies (insourcing, transfer, consolidation)
  • Lead Supplier Relationship Management for assigned CMOs
  • Partner with Quality Assurance to ensure GMP compliant supplier qualification and audit readiness.
  • Support TechOps and R&D on technology transfers, scale up activities, and new product introductions.
  • Work with Supply Chain on capacity planning, forecasting, risk mitigation and business continuity.
  • Drive compliance with procurement processes, procedures and best practices

 

Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry or equivalent.
  • Procurement or supply chain certification (e.g., CIPS, NEVI, APICS) is an advantage.
  • 7–10+ years procurement experience, ideally in pharmaceutical or medical device manufacturing.
  • Strong execution discipline.
  • Strong understanding of GMP, regulatory requirements, and pharmaceutical production processes (FDF, API, packaging)
  • Extensive experience in contract negotiation and supplier management.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship‑building skills.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional projects in a global, matrixed environment.
  • Strategic thinking combined with hands‑on problem solving.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under time pressure.
  • Strong command of English; additional languages beneficial
